Kings Meadow boarding services provide a comfortable, peaceful environment to board your horse. As the owner lives on-site, you can board with the full confidence that your horse is in good hands at all times. She has many years of invaluable experience in the industry, as well as a staff that are well-trained and knowledgeable. 
Our boarding facility boasts complete care for both the pleasure and competitive rider. We have a selection of boarding packages available in order to accommodate individual needs of each of our boarders. All boarders have full use of the facilities, we offer full day turnout in small groups, or half day individual/paired turnout. Turnout hours are sunrise-sunset, weather permitting.
Primarily an adult and young riders facility, for the enjoyment and safety of all clients we do not allow children under the age of 12 inside the barns or arenas at any time without written permission from Kings Meadow management, unless they are part of our lesson program and supervised by coach or assistant.  Minors must have adult supervision at all times, unless they are part of our lesson program and supervised by coach or assistant.

  • Does the owner of Kings Meadow live onsite?

    Yes, she does. Ashley Van Der Hout is the owner of Kings Meadow and lives at the farm. Ashley is certified in Equine First Aid, Emergency First Aid with CPR Level A + AED, Technical Large Animal Equine Rescue, and is a Master Farrier.

  • Is Kings Meadow a member in good standing of Ontario Equestrian?

    Yes, Kings Meadow has been a facility member of Ontario Equestrian for many years, and in good standing. 


    ALL boarders must provide Kings Meadow with an up to date OEF membership.

  • Does Kings Meadow have liability insurance?

    Absolutely! Kings Meadow has full Equine Farm Liability insurance through BFL Canada. Equine operations include boarding of non-owned horses, riding instruction, breeding on non-owned horses, training/showing of non-owned horses and non-riding clinics, horse day camps, transportation of boarders' / students' horses.

  • Does Kings Meadow have access to a Veterinarian 24/7?

    Yes, Dr. Amy Bennet, D.V.M. (Bennett Equine Veterinary Services) is the Veterinarian for Kings Meadow and is available 24/7. Her extraordinary commitment to our equines has made her our go to for all veterinary needs and emergencies.

    Kings Meadow is also a short driving distance from Milton Equine Hospital & OVC in the event of an emergency

  • Does Kings Meadow have access to a Farrier 24/7?

    Yes, Ashley Van Der Hout (the owner of KMEC) lives onsite and is a Master Farrier with a certification from the Kentucky Horsehoeing School. Ashley is onsite and available 24/7 for emergencies.


    Mike Smith is our farrier at Kings Meadow. He has worked with most of our clients and our own horses with reliable results.

  • Does Kings Meadow have an Emergency Plan and Evacuation Plan?

    Yes, KMEC has a detailed Emergency Plan and Evacuation Plan in the event it is necessary to contact First Responders, move horses, etc.


    All staff are trained accordingly.

  • Are the owner and staff at Kings Meadow certified in first aid?

    Yes, Ashley Van Der Hout is certified in Emergency First Aid with CPR Level A + AED. 


    In addition to her first aid certifications, Ashley is certified in Equine First Aid, Technical Large Animal Equine Rescue and is a Master Farrier.


    Kings Meadow's Coaches, Riley and Shalom are both certified in first aid and CPR.


    Staff first aid and CPR renewals are pending.

  • Can you provide emergency trailering 24/7?

    Yes. KMEC owns a four-horse trailer used for show trailering and a 2/3-horse trailer for emergency trailering. The trailers and truck are onsite for immediate transport.

  • Is staff training conducted regularly?

    All of our staff have been trained to adhere to KMEC protocols for safety. All safety training and protocols are documented in a procedure manual that is available to all staff and reviewed annually. Our procedure manual is reviewed and updated regularly to reflect any changes.

  • Has Kings Meadow been reviewed for Fire Safety?

    Yes, KMEC has been inspected by the Fire Department and follows all of their recommendations.


    Fire extinguishers are in each barn, and in the arena and viewing room.

  • Does KMEC cover their employees with WSIB?

    Yes, all staff are covered by WSIB and Kings Meadow follows all guidelines as dictated by the Ontario Ministry of Labour.


    In fact, KMEC has been reviewed by a Ministry of Labour representative.

  • What do I need to do before moving my horse to Kings Meadow?

    Prior to moving your horse to our facility we ask that a complete equine history be filled out, as well as proof of insurance and vaccination certificates. We also arrange a face-to-face meeting with all prospective boarders, during which time we discuss their needs, the horse's medical history and any special requirements their horse may have. 


    Vaccinations must include: 

    • WEE
    • EEE
    • Rabies
    • Flu
    • West Nile
    • Tetanus
    • Rhino 
    • Strangles
    • Up-To-Date Worming 

    Quarantine, fecal tests* and any required deworming** will be done prior to including new horses in our turnout fields. 


    *A $25.00 fee will be charged for fecal tests (subject to change)

    *A $25.00+HST fee will be charged for deworming (subject to change)

  • What happens when my horse arrives at Kings Meadow?

    We have quarantine stalls and separate individual turnout areas for new ship-ins until they are ready to join our regular turnout program. Upon arrival at the farm a thorough check of each new horse is completed, including a weight check to monitor their feeding program and adjust as needed. 


    Kings Meadow offers rehabilitation and weight gain programs priced according to the individual horse, in addition to our regular boarding packages. Inquire with Ashley at info@kingsmeadow.ca.

Board payments must be made monthly on the 1st of each month by post-dated cheques. Billing for any extra services outside of your boarding package will be invoiced separately, payable upon receipt.
